More than 700 million people around the world are food insecure today. Without transformative action to manage climate change, land degradation, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss, the numbers will continue to rise. The United States must be part of the solution.
The Council is dedicated to re-imagining the U.S. approach to building global food security. It identifies and advances the most strategic, evidence-based, and highest impact endeavors to achieve this goal.

Food availability is affected by an array of factors—including, notably, conflict. Ultimately, however, food availability relies on five pillars. They are the most basic elements of a strong, resilient food supply; without them, food security is not achievable.
