Anna Nelson

Anna was the Deputy Special Envoy for Global Food Security at the U.S. Department of State during the Biden-Harris Administration, where she worked to strengthen global food security through policy leadership, strategic diplomacy, and private sector and civil society collaboration. She served as a civil servant in the Departments of State and Defense for fifteen years, including as Chief of Staff of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency and senior advisor on food and climate to the U.S. Director of Foreign Assistance. She also spent time as a Vice President at The Cohen Group, where she provided strategic advice and business consulting services to corporate clients in the semiconductor, biotechnology, and manufacturing industries. She has a BA from McGill University, a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a JD from George Washington University. She owns a farm in Maryland.
