Roy Steiner, PhD, is the Senior Vice President for the Food Initiative at The Rockefeller Foundation, where he leads a team focused on creating access to nourishing food for millions of people in the U.S. and around the world, and supporting scientific advances in dietary quality and regenerative food systems. Previously, he was Director of Intellectual Capital at Omidyar Network and helped launch the Agricultural Development program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Earlier, Roy founded Cyberplex Africa and co-founded Africa Online, pioneering internet access in Zimbabwe. He also worked with CH2MHill and McKinsey & Company on technology and development strategy. Roy earned a PhD and MS in agricultural and biological engineering from Cornell University and dual bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering and biology from MIT.
