

Joseph Forcherio is the Middle East Advisor to the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). In this role, he advises CIMMYT’s Director General on strategic direction and engagement in the Middle East. Before this role, Mr. Forcherio was a U.S. diplomat in the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Food Security, where he served as the Special Envoy for Global Food Security’s primary advisor on issues in the G7, UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), international financial institutions, and the Pacific Islands. He received multiple awards for his work at the Department and holds degrees from the George Washington University and the University of Alabama. He grew up on a farm in rural Tennessee and currently resides in Arlington, Virginia.
